A Sublime Location
Brockenhurst House offers a stunning location to live, within the environs of one of the most desirable areas in the country. Ascot is world famous for its historic racecourse - there are few sporting venues that can match the rich heritage and history of Ascot Racecourse. Over the past 300 years Royal Ascot has established itself as the centrepiece of the British social calendar. It was Queen Anne who first saw the potential for a racecourse at Ascot whilst out riding in 1711 - she came upon an area of open heath, not far from Windsor Castle, that lookedan ideal place for “horses to gallop at full stretch.” Nowadays, the new Grandstand with its modern facilities is second to none, taking Ascot as a sporting complex to a whole new level and making Ascot the ultimate racing experience.
In the shadow of the racecourse grandstand, picturesque Ascot High Street bustles with local amenities, boasting friendly bars, elegant restaurants and chic clothing stores. Neighbouring villages of Sunningdale and Sunninghill offer stylish boutiques, bijou cafés and mouthwatering delicatessens. For more extensive shopping experiences Windsor, Reading and Camberley are close by. A short walk to Ascot Station and 57 minutes is all it takes to whisk you into London Waterloo, while in the opposite direction 30 minutes will take you to Reading. Easy road links with the M3, M25 and M4 make commuting by car surprisingly accessible. These excellent road links make Brockenhurst House ideally located for access to Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.
An Ideal Setting
If the location is sublime, the setting is perfection. Ascot possess a unique atmosphere where well-heeled suburbia meets relaxed, rural life. It is little wonder that many rich and famous people, past and present have made Ascot their home. With Windsor Great Park, Virginia Water and Savill Garden nearby, the emphasis is on open green spaces, perfect for leisurely walks and recreation.
Virginia Water, first dammed and flooded in 1753, was, until the creation of the great reservoirs, the largest man-made body of water in the British Isles. There are still many vestiges of the past, as the lake was once a place of pageantry and spectacle with follies and fishing temples built on the shore. Visitors can still admire the ornamental cascade from the 18th century and a ‘Roman temple’ built from columns and lintels brought from the ancient city of Leptis Magna in the early 19th century. One of the area’s more recent additions is a towering 100-foot high Totem Pole, a gift from the government of British Columbia.
The Savill Garden is one of Britain’s greatest ornamental gardens. It never fails to charm visitors who come to explore its 35 acres of contemporary and classically designed gardens. A place of constant discovery, ever-changing with every season bringing new colour and interest to delight horticulturalists and enthusiasts alike.
The area is also home to many internationally renowned golf courses such as The Berkshire, Sunningdale and Wentworth, all offering championship quality facilities in breathtaking surroundings. In addition, the area boasts two well-known polo clubs and an abundance of equestrian facilities. With so much on your doorstep, life at Brockenhurst House will undoubtedly put you in a remarkable and enviable position.
